Singing In The Rain

Nathan's grandma Bailey came for a visit last Friday and helped me plant some flowers. Of course Leland was in the thick of all the action (the hose is great fun you know). By the time we had finished planting and watering I am not sure who had gotten the most water, Leland or the flowers. Just as we were wrapping things up it started to rain. As the minutes passed the rain came faster and faster. I asked Leland if he wanted to go inside and he immediately responded "no". So I watched from the garage as Leland soaked up yet more water!! Pretty talented huh, he can catch rain with his tongue!! So I guess I can't tell him that we can't go outside anymore when it is raining.

Enter At Your Own Risk

Sutton had a doctor appointment in Ann Arbor last Thursday. I took Leland along and planned to meet Molly (she was babysitting some kids and we thought it would be fun to get together at the park) at a park in Chelsea (Timber Town). Well Molly's plans changed, but I thought oh this will be no big deal and Leland will have lots of fun!!! Well it was very hot and humid and of course when we got to the park it was about 11:30 am. I planned to put Sutton in my baby back pack, but the straps were all twisted, so after about 15 minutes of trying to fix them I gave up. I only had my umbrella stroller, so I placed Sutton in it and carried Leland across the parking lot. Once we got the the wooden structure I had to leave the stroller outside. We made our way inside and Leland headed straight for the sand!! This was ok except that there was minimal shade and do you think I was prepared with hats or sunscreen, of course not. I was able to talk Leland into trying out a couple of different areas. Needless to say we didn't stay long, only about half an hour, but that was enough to leave me pretty sweaty and Leland and Sutton with rosy red cheeks!! There are lots of things I have tackled alone with the boys, but have decided this is something I won't do again unless I have another set of adult hands!!

Baker's Man

We had a rainy day last week so I decided to make some playdough with Leland. Of course we had to color it the color that he labels everything with "red". He enjoyed helping me pour and mix the ingredients. And of course it would not have been complete unless he sampled a couple of bites!!!

The Great Outdoors

We have been enjoying the company of a doe and her two fawns. They have been getting brave and are coming closer to the house each time they come out.

All Smiles

Sutton is a real easy going baby. This is usually how he is unless he is tired or hungry, then watch out.

Paradise

The bath is one of Sutton's favorite places to hang out. He does make it challenging though because he does not like to stay in the seat anymore

First Dentist Visit

Back in May Nathan had a dentist appointment and he took Leland because it won't be long before he has his first check-up. Nathan said he did very well and opened right up without hesitation!!

Early Birthday Present

Poppa and Grammy Kapnick couldn't wait until Leland's birthday to give him his cozy coupe so he got an early birthday present the other day. Leland enjoys playing with the cozy coupe at day care and any time we go some where and there is one he always goes to it first. He also thinks it is fun to fill it up with gas.

Moster Truck Car Wash!!

Leland has been pooing in the potty for close to 3 months now. He will also pee in the potty, but does not tell us when he needs to do so. So I got the bright idea that he needed to experience wet underwear. We made a big deal about getting some cool underwear with trucks and some with fish. He was only in the underwear for about 20 minutes when I hear him saying: water, mess as he is pointing to his leg. We will keep trying!!!!

A couple of pictures to get started

Everyone will have to bear with me as I get use to doing this. I at least wanted to get a couple of pictures of the boys on for now. I will add more later. Right now Leland is very into planes, tractors, trucks, boats, basically anything with a motor, oh yeah and bugs and spiders (as you can see Leland found some spiders). Sutton is growing like a weed and is busy rolling around and playing with his toys. We found out that Sutton has hip dyplasia. We will be going to the U of M on July 1st for training about putting him in traction. He will be in traction for 2 weeks. We then go back on July 16th. They will take him into the operating room and try to put his hips back in place manually. If this is unsuccessful they will have to cut him open to put them back in. Either way he will then be put in a cast from the chest down for 3 months. There is a picture of a harness that we tried for a week, but the doctor at the U of M didn't feel it would work for him.
