Destination Berctesgaden

We ventured out from our hotel in Munchen today and headed south into mountain country, making us feel like we were in Tennessee.  Our first stop was Konigssee.  We then departed on a boat on a lake between the mountains.  On the way to St. Bartholomae the driver played a trumpet in echo valley.  The echo back of his trumpet off the mountains was very cool.  Once back from our boat ride we ventured to Salzbergwerk salt mine for a tour.  We all got to wear as authentic suits.  The kids enjoyed riding the slide rails down.  After the tour we headed up Rossfeldstrasse.  A twisty turning road to the top of a mountain.  The views were spectacular!!  The farmers in this area take their cows to the top of the mountains in the spring and leave them there until fall time.  The lead cow wears a large bell.  There were plenty of cows to be seen!  We stopped at a mountain top restaurant for dinner.  Nate and Lee had steak, sutt had schnitzel,  and I had spaetzle,  a cheese pasta.  After dinner we made the trek back to our hotel to hit the hay sack.

Rest And Relaxation In Erding

A change in plans was made as we all agreed we needed a break from site seeing.  Instead of heading to Dresden from Berlin we headed straight to Munchin.  About 40 minutes from there is a town called Erding.  Texaco was drilling for oil there and hit a natural water spring, thus creating Therme Erding.  A large indoor/outdoor water park complete with pools, slides, swim up bars, and as many snacks as you like!  The indoor sections are open to the outdoors with sliding ceiling panels.  The water in the pools is naturally warm.  Everyone was having such a great time that we decided to eat dinner at burger joint on site si we could swim longer.  We ended up closing the place down at 11:00 p.m., no surprise!!!  This seems to be what happens each night!  A great day of relaxation was just what the doctor ordered!
