X Marks The Spot

Well I am really hesitant to post this blog, but it is so Leland that I thought I would share. Nathan was in the back yard looking at some things and Leland was with him. Nathan said Leland walked up front and he thought he was coming in to go to the bathroom. A minute later Leland came back to Nathan saying that he really had to go to the bathroom, so Nathan brought him in. Once inside Nathan informs me that Leland had a little accident. He had poo on his legs. It wasn't until Nathan went back outside and I began questioning Leland that I realized what he had done. When I finally put two and two together I asked Leland if he could show me where he went. Sure enough the evidence was still there, in the front yard by the sidewalk. Nathan and I laughed and tried to convince Leland that we really shouldn't go poo outside!!

A Not So Friendly Visit (For One Of Us At Least)

Nate, Leland and I all had dental appointments a couple of weeks ago. This was my first time at Nate's dentist, but I was not anticipating anything out of the ordinary. I got called back first and things seemed to be going fine, I had no indications to make me think otherwise. While my teeth were still being cleaned Leland got called back. I could here him asking the hygenist if she had a dog, he asks most people this. Then the dentist came to see me. He first asked me if I had been having any difficulties with any of my teeth. My response, no not with my teeth, but.... I must have caught him off guard, his face was rather shocked looking. His reply, well is there something else we can help you with, my reply, I was just joking. Then things went down hill from there. He informed me that I was going to need a crown. I have since gone back for my temporary crown and do have to say that while it was alot of tooth drilling it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. When I got home I told Nate "see I am a princess and now I have the crown to prove it"!!!

Do We Look Like Tourists Or What?

We finally made it to the lake for some fun in the sun the weekend before Fathers Day. As you can see the kids were all decked out in gear. Leland tried catching minnows all last summer and was never able. So he was pretty excited when I was able to catch one. Unfortunately the minnow did not fare so well, but Leland enjoyed it while it lasted.

Opposites

Leland and Sutton prove to us just how opposite they are each and every day. I have often thought about doing a blog about all the opposites, but decided that it would take too long!!!! These photos share just one example of how they are so different. Sutton has always been the kid who puts everything and I mean everything in his mouth, including dirt. This day he had the fine dining pleasure of sand and top soil!!

The Covenant

I know this is not a rainbow in the skies, but I thought this was a neat picture!!

Nice Outfit!!!

Lately Leland has been selecting his own clothing, can you tell? I guess the shirt and the bathing suit do have the same shade of blue. All I can say is that it is a good thing we were not planning to go any where but in the yard that day.

Toad...ally Froggy

Another unsuspecting creature made its way into our yard, little did it know what that meant. Of course it meant getting out the infamous "bug house" for the capture. Nathan and I are really getting into this creature capturing, the boys were napping while we were doing some yard work and came across the little creature. Sutton was the first to wake and of course he noticed the frog right away and was very curious about it. Leland awoke not much later and was also of course very excited. With a little coaxing he finally decided he would hold it. We never were able to convience Sutton to hold or even touch it. Thankfully Leland is getting better about wanting to let things go!!!

Green Thumb Wanna Be

Leland and I are trying our hands at growing a garden for the first time. We planted pumpkins, gourds, peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The deer decided about the third day everything was planted and hadn't been disturbed that it was ok to go into the garden. They pulled one of the tomato plants right out of the ground and ate the main stem to both of the plants. They also ate the main stem to the yellow pepper plant. They haven't bothered much lately, but that is because I don't think the plants were getting enough water and were beginning to look a little sad. We are working to bring the plants to better health!! Hopefully by the end of summer we will be able to enjoy some of the fruits of our labors!!!!

Distant Relatives?

Over Memorial Day weekend we also spent a day at the zoo. It was a long, but enjoyable day.

Working In The Dirt

The Friday before Memorial Day was a day that I had off of work, so my dad and Kathy came over to help with some yard work. They brought a rototiller, which made my job much easier!!! Leland enjoys helping, even if this includes getting Nene (aka Winston) soaking wet with the hose. And of course wherever there is dirt, Leland will find it!!

And Then There Was An Empty Nest

Leland and I discovered that we had a robin's nest in the pine tree we have in some landscaping near the house. We found it just in time, the eggs hatched 2 days after I took the egg photo. Leland was eager to check on his baby birds everyday. I had told him to be careful not to touch the tree or the momma bird would smell us and she wouldn't come back to take care of the babies. He rememered this and would tell me each time we looked at the birds. I also kept telling him that one day the babies would get big and they would leave the nest, I don't think he quite understood this. Last Sunday I went to look at the babies while Leland was napping. As I approached with my camera one of the babies decided it was going to take the plunge. Later that day Nate walked over to see what was going on in the nest and the last 2 decided to take the plunge. That meant we now had an empty nest. Thankfully Leland had checked on his babies earlier that morning. When I told him that the babies had left the nest he wanted to know when we could buy some more baby birds. I was amazed at how fast the birds grew and am thankful that human babies take a lot longer to leave the nest. Even though it will be quite some time before we experience an empty nest looking at the empty birds nest was very symbolic, especially after watching the eggs from the beginning!!!

Golf Anyone?

Al and Pam came over for Al's birthday and they brought a golf set for Leland. He was bound and determined to hit the ball. Rather than swinging the club and Nate was trying to show him he was lifting the ball with the club, it was cute!!

Long Time No Blog

Sorry it has been so long!!! Time has been flying by and it seems that there is always something more pressing (laundry, baths, dishes, yard work, etc) than spending time on the computer. I definetly have a lot of catching up to do so we will start with some recent photos of the kids that I have taken lately that don't really go with anything, but a blog that is long over due!!! Don't you love the picture of Sutton in the bathtub?!!! This is what happens when you leave the kids alone with Nate.
