Tigers, Elephants, Lelands, and Suttons Oh My!!!!

We had the opportunity to attend a one ring circus which came to a nearby town. Nate was working 2nd shift at the time so the kids and I invited my dad and Kathy to come along. For it being only a one ring circus they really put on quite a show. It was so neat watching the boys reactions. Sutton had cotton candy for the first time, boy you should have watched his eyes light up. Leland was laughing most of the night, he really thought the clowns were funny.

Curiosity

Curiosity always seems to get the best of the boys. This day it was what appeared to be an injured monarch butterfly. They couldn't get enough of watching and touching the poor butterfly. I was finally able to coax them in for dinner and while we were eating the butterfly made its escape.

A Day At The Lake With Grammy And Poppa

We spent a fun day at the lake with Grammy and Poppa. We went to the sand bar so the kids could do a little swimming and jumping. As usual the boys enjoyed driving the boat.

Imagination At Work

On a Saturday not too far back it looked like the weather would not be so great so we decided to head to a local children's museum. The kids enjoyed playing in all the areas. I think the kitchen area, stage area, and driving an airplane were the highlights though.

Summer Camp 2010

We finished our last Thursday of summer camp this past Thursday. This year it was nice because Nate was on second shift so he was able to join us. well he joined us in body, not sure how much his mind was with us due to lack of sleep!! The kids had a good time and once again got lots of new great books.

Another Milestone Down The Drain

As of July 19th we have not had to change a dirty diaper!!! Sutton finally decided it was time to wear big boy scibbies. I started cleaning out the laundry room that has doubled as the changing station for the last 4 years and actually had a hard time. I told Nathan in a weird way I am sad about this. I guess because this is the last milestone that really takes you out of baby mode. I do have to say though that is pretty comical watching the boys go to the bathroom at the same time!! Oh the things that are exciting to little boys!! It didn't help that the same week Sutton also transitioned to a booster seat at the dinner table instead of his highchair. He is growing up and becoming so independent so fast!!

For The Love Of Nature

We have had some wildlife around this year that we haven't had in the past. A fox made a den in a pile that needs to be burned and we have had 4 baby fox. We have had a large barn owl. We continue to have lots of deer and there have been plenty of fawns this year also. And of course we have plenty of frogs. I had gone out to water the garden one morning and found this little guy sitting on the sunflower plant that Leland had started at daycare as a seed. I thought he was pretty cute and blog worthy.

The Big 4

Leland celebrated his 4th birthday back on July 16th. He woke up to a bedroom full of balloons. The day was complete with farm barn tours at Michigan State University, ribs, and monster truck cake and cookies!! Nathan was able to get the day off work, which made it all the more special. Before we left Leland opened a couple of presents. He finally got the white dog and Blue Thunder monster trucks he has been asking for. It is so nice to be able to go into Target and Meijer without hearing can we look for a Blue Thunder!!! And thank goodness we had a hard time finding a Blue Thunder because we wouldn't have been able not to buy one if we had found it when he was begging to look for one. However, his favorite gift of the day was his John Deere planter, so you can guess what he has been busy doing!! Our barn tour started in the poultry barns. There were plenty of chickens, eggs, and turkeys!! Next we visited the cow barn, this was by far the best. We had a hard time getting the kids to leave and we were only barely out of the driveway of the cow barns and Leland was already asking to go back. The last barn we visited was the sheep barn. While there we were able to watch one get a bath. We then headed back home so I could finish decorating the cake (I have to say this one actually turned out pretty decent!!). We then headed to dinner at Leland's choice restaurant Saucy Dogs. He had the same birthday dinner as last year, ribs. We then headed back home to open more presents with a small group of family and eat cake. This was a long day, but we really had a great time.
