Pick A Pumpkin Any Pumpkin

To put the finishing touches on our outside fall decorations we took the boys to get some "big" pumpkins at a local farm market. Thankfully I got the two photos that I did because right after the second shot the camera battery died!!!

A Big Poop

Each fall a local orchard has an elephant brought in for the kids to ride. We had promised the kids that we would ride Laura at the orchard because we were unable to ride her at the hot air jubilee back in July. The kids enjoyed the ride, but I think they were most impressed with the size of the poop that the elephant produced (imagine that)!!!!!! In the midst of the poop Leland exclaims "it's as big as a basketball!!!!" I guess it is the little or should I say the big things that count. The kids also enjoyed petting the goats and watching the pot belly pigs.

Season Of Change

This post signifies another start to the school year for me and the start of day care for the boys. We unexpectedly (only 2 weeks before I went back to work) ended up having to find a new day care. I will spare you all the details, but lets just say that we had some very hurtful things said about our boys!! This ended up being a rather stressful and disappointing search. We had looked at several day cares and didn't really feel that we had found a good match, but had picked one based on the fact that we had to. We then decided to check out one last day care that we didn't feel was an option (she lives right next door to our previous day care provider). We are glad we did, we felt a good connection with Tami almost instantly. Leland has had the most difficulty with this change, but seems to be adjusting. While the change hasn't been easy for any of us we know that in the long run the change was needed. The boys have only been there for 3 days last week and 4 days this week, but so far so good. Hopefully the good days will continue!!!

Acting Like Animals

We recently made one last visit to the zoo for the season. The boys enjoyed pretending to be a variety of different animals.

Iowa Or Bust

My brother, sister-in-law, and nephew moved to Iowa at the beginning of August. My brother accepted a new job with much better pay. We decided to make the trek before I went back to work, knowing that if we didn't we probably wouldn't make it anytime soon. They live near Davenport and are only about 15 minutes from Moline Illinois. For those of you who don't know Moline is where the John Deere headquarters is. And for those of you who don't know Leland is an absolute John Deere nut, so the relocation of my brother's family couldn't have been to a better location!!!! We spent Friday touring tractors!! Leland couldn't have been any happier, he got to sit in lots of heavy equipment and of course his favorites the combine and an 8 wheeler. We had a great dinner at a local brewery (thanks for picking up the tab Shandy and Kristy!!). Saturday we spent some time at a pool/water park. I wasn't able to take any pictures at the pool however because no cameras were allowed. When I asked why I was told that some older gentlemen had been taking inappropriate pictures so no one was allowed to bring in a camera, which was a real bummer. Saturday evening we went to a small zoo in Illinois and then headed for dinner. Thursday and Sunday were spent in the car so not much exciting to report from those days, other than the kids did actually well in the car and we don't even have a dvd player!! All of us had a great time and we are looking forward to our next visit!!

The First Pearly Visit

Sutton went for his first "real" dental check-up at the end of August. He did really well and for right now his teeth look great!! Leland had a bit of a rough time because it was his first time for x-rays. He could not seem to keep from gagging the instant she put the thing in his mouth to bite on, I felt so sorry for him!!

He Has The Whole Frog In His Hand

Leland has finally decided that he can pick up a frog with no fear. This has been a process. He first would only look from afar, the looks then got closer and closer. Then he was able to touch the frog on the back. Now he is a pro, picking up any frog that jumps across his path!!

Mr. Animated

I love watching Leland talk on the phone. He is always walking around, putting his hand on his hip, and using his other arm to convey meaning!!!
