Early Morning Pumpkin Carving

It's that time of year again!!! The ever fun pumpkin carving. The boys were both into helping more this year. They both thought they should be able to use the knife, but I think that will be several more years down the road!! Leland was even willing to touch the insides, Sutton was still a little cautious.

Mystery Illness Ends In Mystery Behavior

The last week and a half the kids had a mystery illness. The pediatrician did a strep test on Sutton and said the line was faint, but because he had been exposed at daycare and he had a fever that was what she was going to call it. Three days on antibiotic (against what we would typically do)and he was still spiking a 103 degree fever, so we began questioning what was going on. In the mean time Leland decided that he would also start spiking temps, but only about 100 degrees. The mystery part comes in that one day the kids would have fevers and be miserable and the next day they would be fine. We thought Sutton was doing better and then when I picked him up from daycare his eyes were all swollen and puffy and he had broken out in a lovely rash. So of course it was another trip back to the pediatrician. Leland also got to go along this time because he was still spiking fevers. With clearance from the pediatrician saying she didn't think they were contagious any longer because it had been so long they went back to daycare. Then Thursday I picked Leland up and he kept saying his head hurt. Tami assured me that he had been fine all day. When we got home he did not get up off the couch until it was time to eat dinner. Just as we sat down to eat he lost his lunch all over the dinner table, talk about losing your appetite!! He then headed back to the couch for about 30 minutes, then he was in rare form. He began asking for food and of course I was a little leery. With hesitation I gave him some of the chicken we had for dinner. Then he wanted carrots and ranch and apples and peanut butter, what a combination after just getting sick!! Then I am in the kitchen cleaning up and I come to check on him and he has decided that he is going to clean the half bathroom with a wet wipe. I think this mystery illness really got to him!! Since then thankfully they have been well.

A Day Late And An Apple Short

We did not make it to the orchard early enough to pick our own apples this year. All the apples had been picked and put into big wooden crates at the end of the rows. However, we were still able to enjoy the wagon ride through the woods, the petting/feeding of the animals, and of course the yummy cider and donuts!! We will have to plan an earlier trip for next year.

The View From Back Here

This is the view I get now when we take walks. I have a hard time keeping up with both of them, it is a good thing we live on a quiet street!! It is hard to see, but in the last picture Sutton thought it would be fun to ride with his handle bars backwards, crazy kid!!

Guess Who

The sun was making nice shadows of us recently on a walk. Can you tell who is who?

Biking Brothers

We were all surprised when Sutton hopped on a bike and started pedaling one day. I think most surprised was Leland. He had been borrowing Sutton's big boy bike since he wasn't ready for it. As you can imagine Leland didn't want to give it up. Nate's dad and step-mom had purchased the same bike awhile back, but it didn't have training wheels. Nate searched high and low for training wheels small enough to fit the bike without any luck. He ended up coming home with another brand new bike and now all is well!!

Beater Lickin' Good

Any time we bake something the boys can't resist tasting some of the dough or batter, hmmmm wonder who they get that from? Leland was really into it this day. He some how managed to have cake batter every where, even on his eye!!

Farming Firefighters

Leland has already made a slight career change for himself. He is now going to be a farmer and a fireman. So when we heard that fire trucks and firemen would be at our Home Depot we headed there to check it out. The weather was not very cooperative that day, but Leland had fun spraying the real fire hose, Sutton would have nothing to do with it. Inside the boys enjoyed some fresh popcorn and tolerated having a picture taken with Safety Pup.
