Corner Kick

The boys have been enjoying playing soccer.  It is a short season with only 5 games and practice on Thursdays.  They have never played soccer so we weren't sure they would like it, but two helpful things have been that the team is small and the coaches are great.  Leland took to it very quickly and always gets right in there to get the ball.  Sutton surprised us both and has taken some time to get in there after the ball.  As always it has been fun watching them learn something new while having a good time!!

Hitting The Ice: No Pun Intended

The boys had a chance to hit the ice, literally!!  A local college hosted a try hockey for free event.  The event included the chance to fully gear up as a hockey player and a free jersey.  After getting all geared up we headed out and waited to hit the ice.  Poor Leland had a hard time just standing in the skates on the regular floor.  Then it was time!  Getting much past the enterance to the ice was a bit of a challenge.  Nate did what he could in his work boots to help both the boys.  Leland then got hooked up with a college player and by the end of the night was showing some progress.  Sutton on the other hand pretty much gave up and sat down on the edge of the ice.  When someone would come to offer him help he would turn them away.  While sitting on the edge a local newspaper man took a picture of him and his friend and it made the paper!!  While they both had fun with the experience they were both glad to get all the gear off and give their bottoms a rest!!

Blossoming Reader

Leland has a book from school to read each night.  He has made lots of growth with his reading already this year!!  He often enjoys reading to Winston, even if Winston isn't always willing to listen!
