Boot Camp Kapnick Style

Leland decided early on that he would celebrate his birthday Army style this year.  I had tons of fun planning this one!!  This was also the first birthday in which we baked a cake and actually left it in the 9x13 pan!!  All he requested was a camo cake, so that was super easy!!  We had fun playing lots of games, including:  pin the badge on the soldier, wounded warrior 3 legged race, drop the trooper on the target, saving private Ryan scavenger hunt, tug of war, gernade toss, and an army boot obstacle course.  The obstacle course was by far the favorite game!!  The obstacle course was such a success thanks to Papa Partee's wood working talents!!  The authenic decorations were lots of fun also, thanks Papa Kapnick for letting us borrow those!!

Happy 7th Birthday Leland!!!

Leland decided he wanted steak and a loaded baked potato for his birthday dinner.  He also requested that we go to a restaurant that celebrates.  So he decided that Texas Road House would meet all his requirements.  After a very filling meal we headed home so Leland could open his gifts from us.  Leland is very much into military and camo items these days so he was thrilled with some new books about military machinary and a new camo bed set!!

Summer Camp Farmer Style

After our long weekend up North we returned home just in time for Leland to go to summer camp.  The intermediate school district I work for once again offered some great summer camps for the kids.  This year they offered one to learn about farming at the newly opened Center For The Sustainable Future.  Leland learned lots of things about a variety of crops and animals.  The teacher brought in baby chicks and they got to care for and watch them grow over the week.  They also took a fieldtrip to a local dairy farm and to the crop farm of the teacher.  Of course Leland enjoyed every minute of the fieldtrip, cows and tractors who could ask for more?

Making Memories Up North Style

We spent a long fourth of July weekend up North visiting Aunt Carol and Shelia.  As always we had a great time, it doesn't get any better than spending some summer time in Northern Michigan!!  Our days were filled with swimming in Lake Michigan, brrrr!, crayfish hunting, watching a ball game and fireworks, visiting "our" towns, viewing a beautiful rainbow over the bay as we drove in, a boat ride through the narrows and into Leland, putt putt golf and jet ski rides.
