Sketter

I don't think this post even needs any words.  These pictures are just so Sutton it makes me smile!!

Leaves, Leaves, And More Leaves

This day the kids were much more interested in raking leaves to jump into them, but I was able to talk them into taking a few pictures!

Go Blue

Leland decided early in the Halloween season to be a Michigan football player.  Sutton took a lot longer to make up his mind, but once Leland's costume arrived in the mail that was all it took.  That made my life easy, I just had to go on-line and order one more.  Halloween was cold and rainy as usual so these costumes worked out great because they were able to bundle up underneath.  They still wears these most every week.  One night they even put them on and "played" a "real" football game in the front yard.  I would say these costumes were money well spent!!

Pumpkin Decorating Minus The Pumpkin Guts

The kids were given the option of either carving or painting their pumpkins this year.  They both decided they were interested in painting.  With the help of Target we bought kits to transform the pumpkins.  I can't say this method was any faster or any less messy, but the kids did enjoy it just as much as carving.  Who knows what they will decide for next year.

Pumpking Picking And Corn Digging

Wow, how quickly I get behind with this blog!!!!  These pictures seem so old, especially now that we are already going into January.  Oh well I will keep plugging along and hopefully get caught back up!  The kids had a grand time picking a pumpkin this year.  Not only did they get to pick a pumpkin, but they also got to see a variety of different animals from goats, donkeys, pigs, chickens, calves to ducks.  They also enjoyed playing in a hay pit, racing rubber ducks down a trough fed by hand pumping water, and digging in a large covered wagon pit filled with corn.

Saying Good-bye Is So Hard

This past week has been a pretty rough and sad week for us.... we ended up having to put Winston down.  He had noticeably started going down hill since April, but he was still doing fairly well.  The night before Thanksgiving things started going down hill again, but this time did not slow down.  We know it was the right choice, but it still makes your heart break.  We have been remembering all the good and fun times we had with Winston or Nene as he was nick named by Leland (we are still not sure how he came up with Nene from Winston).  Winston was always full of life and such a happy dog!!  Just last week he was still trying to play with toys.  Winston loved the water!!  This started at our old house when we bought him a baby swimming pool.  We kept the pool out in the back garage.  Whenever the garage door would go up he would run out and drag the pool up to the house so you would fill it with water.  My Aunt Kyle had nick named him the champion jumper.  When he was younger he could have definitely participate in some dock jumping competitions, he always got great distance when chasing a ball or frisbee into the lake off the end of the dock.  Winston loved the boys!!  He could always count on Leland for a walk in the woods and plenty of hugs and kisses!!  Sutton was good for the crust from his toast every morning at breakfast.  Winston had more nick names than I can probably even remember and he usually came to any of them:  Brown boy, BB, Bopper, June Bug, Nene Bop.  I could not even get a banana off the bunch without him coming to have his share of the banana.  Winston loved the snow, you could often find him with his head buried in it snorting around.  Another favorite thing was opening presents, even if they weren't for him!!  As a puppy we will also remembering him sampling almost every piece of wood we had in our house, he loved chewing on wood.  Winston truly was a remarkable and special dog and one that none of us will ever forget!!
