Gobble, Gobble, Gobble, Bang!!
Leland has been begging us to go hunting for quite some time. I don't think he really even cared what he got to hunt he just wanted to hunt!! He had the opportunity to go hunting with the husband of a colleague of mine and now he is definitely hooked! Nathan also went hunting and needless to say also enjoyed himself and is anxiously awaiting the next time they go. We can't thank John enough for taking Leland "under his wing". Leland had to wait quite some time before he actually was able to get a shot at a bird, but he never gave up. He finally bagged this turkey on the last weekend of the spring hunting season. He actually shot this bird on our anniversary and Nathan couldn't have asked for a better anniversary gift, it was a toss up of who was the most proud: John, Nathan or Leland! The turkey weighed in at 23 pounds, not bad for a first bird!! Winchester also enjoyed his first scent of a bird. We are planning to train him for some pheasant hunting, Leland can hardly stand himself. He loves that dog and hunting so for him there won't be anything better!!
Bringing Home Winchester
We brought Winchester home on the Friday of Mothers Day weekend. We fell in love with him instantly and all wanted a turn to hold him first!! He has really been a great puppy. The first two weeks were the roughest and that was only because he was up every 2 hours through the night to go out and potty. He was a bit apprehensive his first couple times at the lake, but has gotten over this and now we have to make him get out of the water to take a break. He was nicknamed happy by the breeder because he was always wagging his tail and this continues to be the case!! He is growing like a weed. When we brought him home he weighed 11 pounds. He now weighs just a bit over 25.

Easter
We did our usual Easter routine this year. The kids were surprised with Easter baskets. After church they found more Easter eggs then you can imagine. We had a nice dinner with the Elting clan.
Hanging On For Dear Life!!
Leland experienced his first "real" tooth lose shortly after spring break. He had a hard time letting go of this tooth!!! The tooth was so loose it was literally hanging there. Of course Nate tried everything to get the tooth out with no success. Finally the night before we were to meet the puppies Leland got the tooth out.
