Finally, A Snow Day!!

We have had a crazy winter this year with above average temps and rain.  We thought we would never get a snow day.  Then finally on January 12th our snow day wishes came true.  Our snow day was filled with playing in the snow, a couple science experiments, and sledding with friends!  To start our day we played outside at home.  Sutton was able to make a very small fort.  Winchester enjoyed jumping and catching the snow the boys threw for him.  Then we did a couple science experiments.  First we set to see if an orange floats or sinks.  The hypothesis was that it would sink.  Well that hypothesis was proven wrong, it actually floated.  Then we set out to see if there was anything we could do to the orange to make it sink.  Sutton thought wrapping it in a dish cloth would do the trick, wrong again, but great thinking.  Leland thought we should take the peel off.  Ding, Ding, Ding, that did the trick!  Next we set out to see if we could blow up a balloon inside a bottle.  The boys huffed and puffed but did not have any success.  Then we talked about what we could do to make the job easier.  We figured out that putting a few small holes in the bottom of the bottle allowed just enough air to escape allowing us to blow up the balloon inside.  After our science lessons we headed out to do some sledding with some friends we have not seen in awhile.  We headed out to our faithful hill.  Now we are looking forward to the next snow day, but it is not looking promising at this point!

Pie Face

Sutton got a new game called Pie Face for Christmas.  Of course he was eager to try it out.  We were even able to talk dad into playing!  I think Sutton and I got the brunt of the pie.  Needless to say we haven't played again.

Christmas with Papa and Gramma Kathy

After we opened our gifts with each other my dad and Kathy came over.  We enjoyed a yummy breakfast and then more gift opening.

Christmas Morning

Christmas was greeted with much excitement as usual!  The boys are still enjoying all the great gifts!
