Mother's Day 2016

Here are a few pics of the boys and me on Mother's Day.

Another Baby Tooth Lost

Sutton was on a streak of loosing teeth.  Here was his latest.  As in true Sutton fashion he held onto that tooth until the bitter end!

Welcome Home To Michigan

We arrived home from Alabama to find a blanket of heavy white snow!!!  This poor robin was probably thinking it came north too soon!

Sweet Home Alabama All Spring Break Long

We landed in Alabama for Spring break this year in our continued attempt to visit a new state each year.  We flew into New Orleans and then drove the rest of the way to Gulf Shores Alabama.  Before leaving New Orleans we had an authentic dinner which included craw daddies.  We rented a condo on the ocean.  Getting there ended up being a bit of an adventure.  Nate left me in charge of navigation, big mistake.  I typed in the address and we were following the route along.  As we got closer we kept seeing signs for the ferry, which I knew cut quite a bit of time off the trip.  However I also knew that the last ferry ran at 6:00 p.m.  and it is now close to 11:00 p.m.  So at this point we  called the condo owner and the only way to get there at this time was to back track and take the long way around the water.  We ended up getting in around 1 a.m.  Our first day there was spent by the pool and ended with a delicious dinner at an Italian restaurant.  The next day it rained, but that did not stop us from exploring.  We started our day by touring the USS Alabama a WWII ship and the USS Drum submarine.  On Saturday we did a shell treasure hunt and found lots of cool stuff:  sea urchin, star fish, and sand dollar.  This day also included a round of putt putt golf, a trip to the local zoo (which had some really funny monkeys!), and a delicious dinner at Hogs Wild BBQ.  Sunday included playing at the pool, playing at the beach, shopping at the outlet mall, and a fabulous dinner at Sassy Bass.  A band was playing at Sassy Bass and the whole restaurant, including us was singing along, it was a really good time!!  Monday included playing at the beach and a sand dollar search.  We found 2 this time, but 1 was still alive.  We also took a dolphin cruise and got to see lots of dolphin action.  We loved Hogs Wild BBQ so much that we got some to go and watched the college championship game between Villanova and North Carolina.  Tuesday we made the short drive to Florida to watch the Blue Angels practice.  They also have a very nice aviation museum there  that we checked out.  We ate dinner at Wolf Bay Lodge.  At dark we went crab hunting with our flashlights.  We didn't see as many as we did in Texas, but we still saw some.  Wednesday was our last day in Alabama.  We spent a short time at the beach and then headed back to New Orleans.  We were able to take the ferry on our  way back.  We walked around New Orleans for a short time.  We ate at a hamburger joint, had a beignet, watched a large paddle wheel boat on the Mississippi, and had ice cream at Creole Creamery.  Creole Creamery is an ice cream joint that Guy had shown on the Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  They had very interesting and different flavors.  For example, Leland had lavender honey.  Thursday consisted of getting up and heading to the airport to head home.  We had a great time!!
