Race Rocket

Sutton has decided to take up go-kart racing, with a little help from dad!!  He has only raced a couple of times, but really seems to enjoy it.

Last Day of 6th Grade And 4th Grade

The last day of school finally arrived with much anticipation from all of us on June 8th!!

Imagination Station

Sutton's grade level traveled to the Imagination Station for the end of the year field trip.

Congratulations to Leland Kapnick X 6

The middle school hosted an awards night at the end of the school year.  All of Leland's hard work paid off.  He was the recipient of 6 awards!!!  He received awards in gym, English, art, all A's, Spanish, and he also received the principals award.  We are so proud of this kid!

The First Injury

Leland was playing catcher at a home game and the ball took a bad bounce and hit him on the pinky side of his right hand.  He continued to catch for 2 more innings before he could convince the coaches to take him out.  Unfortunately there was just enough kids at the game that night to play so he could not completely sit out, but move to the outfield.  While walking to the car at the end of the game Lee showed me his hand and it looked like a club it was so swollen.  It was also turning lovely shades of purple.  We decided to wait it out a couple days with lots of icing.  It was clear that it was not getting better we took him for an x-ray which confirmed he had a metacarpal fracture.  When they casted it they had to manually put the bones back in alignment, OUCH!!!  The cast came off after 4 weeks.

Play Ball!!

This years baseball season kept us hopping.  Sutton played for OCRC again during the regular season.  He then played some tournaments on the all star team.  He played lots of positions including catcher, pitcher, 3rd base, 2nd base, and 1st base.  He did well in all the positions.  He also did an awesome job hitting.  He hit a home run while playing districts for the all star team.  Leland earned a spot on the Lookouts travel team.  He had us travelling up to 1 hour and 30 minutes away during the week for games.  The farthest we traveled to was Traverse City for a tournament.  Leland played catcher and some in the outfield.  His season was cut short by a metacarpal fracture.  He was out for 4 weeks during the middle of the season.  Leland enjoyed the travel team and made many new friends.
