Picture Perfect From The German Tree Tops

Our day started with a traditional German breakfast.  Tom, the boys, and I walked to the nearby bakery to buy some fresh bread, called  broetchen.  Sutton found a donut he had to have.  Once back home we ate our broetchen with a variety of cheeses, meats, jams, and scrambled eggs.  We then headed out to have some professional pictures taken at an old coal mine called Zeche Ewald.  Our next adventure was at a zip line course called Kletterwald Haltern.  This was amazing and especially enjoyed by us since this was our first time!  Christoph taped the best video of our trip while here, but I don't have a copy.  When I get it I will add it to this post!  Let's just say we learned a new German word, pupsen (aka:  fart)!  We ate dinner at a nearby beer garden.  Lee and I enjoyed schnitzel.  Sutt and Nate enjoyed a pulled beef burger.  We then headed back home to pack for our 8 day adventure around Germany.  Another day packed with laughs and great memories!

Our First Evening In Germany And Leland Turns 13!!

Leland celebrated his 13th birthday as our first day in Germany.  Ina made him a special German cake.  We enjoyed a traditional German cook out for dinner, including brats, pasta salad, and roasted potatoes with tzatziki sauce.  For dessert, one of my favorites, quark with fruit!!  The kids enjoyed plenty of soccer and kit car riding.  We closed out our evening with German Uno, catching up, and many laughs.  Tom was very shy at first, but once he came out of his shell great friendships were formed!  Even though our boys don't speak German and Tom speaks only a little English they got along great!
