Who Knew That Going To School Would Be Such Hard Work?
Leland started pre-school at one of the elementary schools I work at. We weren't really ready to start him in school yet, but our day care provider finds him to be challenging and wondered if her environment was not stimulating enough for him. He is now going to pre-school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Leland came for a visit to see the classroom the Friday before he actually started. After the visit Leland was very excited about going to school with momma. We dug out his alligator back pack and bought him a lunch box. That morning we ended up having a 2 hour delay, so that was actually nice to have a slow start to his 1st day. The morning went smoothly. I dropped him off and before I had even left the room he was off and playing. I was planning to eat lunch with him that day, but because of the delay a meeting that was scheduled for first thing in the morning had also been shifted by 2 hours. As I was coming down the hall to check on him about 20 minutes into his lunch his teacher was coming down the hall waving to me. When I met her she let me know that he had fallen off the seat in the lunchroom. He was still pretty upest and took awhile to calm down. His teachers were concerned that he might have a concussion because his head felt dented in. I thought he was acting ok and said that he had a funny shaped head, but I thought I should check with the pediatrician. So thats what we did. Thankfully he checked out ok and suprisingly enough he wanted to go back after we left the doctors office. We were hoping to have a regular day on Thursday. The scool started out on a 2 hour delay, but I went ahead and went in a little early to try and get some things done. As we were pulling into the parking lot they closed school, so now I had to figure out what to do with Leland. He ended up spending the day with my grandma. Hopfully next week will go as scheduled for him.

HIPS HIPS HOORAY!!!
Sutton went for his 3 month hip check up at the end of January. Finally some encouraging words!!!! His hip and femur bone angles are now falling within the normal range and we don't have to go back for another check-up for a whole 6 months. The doctor was sure to remind us that because he is a boy she still can't say what the future holds, but for now things are looking good!! He continues to wear a brace at naps and bedtime. This same day Sutton also went for his 1 year check-up with the pediatrician. He now weighs 19.3 lbs, which puts him in the 5th percentile and is 30 inches long, which puts him in the 75 percentile. We got more good news on Feb. 3rd when Sutton went back for his 1 year cardiology appointment to follow up on the ventral septal defect that was discoverd when he was 7 days old. The cardiologist felt certain that the hole had closed, she did hear a slight murmur now, but was not worried. We will follow up with the cardiologist in 1 year just to be sure. We are glad to have all of these doctor appointments out of the way!! Sutton is not yet walking, but he is cruising around the furniture. He has also recently been enjoying walking behind his pushing walker toy. Along with this post are the pictures we had taken for Sutton's 1st birthday, hope you enjoy!! Well I have tried 4 times to add the photos to this post and for some reason it won't let me, so if I figure it out I will add them later, sorry.
