Red Bell Pepper Monster Will Need More Hip Surgery

Sutton loves red bell peppers. Anytime I am cutting them up for dinner or a salad he is right there begging for some to eat. A short time later he will return, of course wearing lots of red drool asking for more. I guess he could love worse things!!! Sutton had his 6 month hip check-up on January 29th. The news was not unexpected, but still not news we really wanted to hear. His left hip is not developing the way the doctor would like. The frustrating thing is that his acetabular index (the angle they measure between his femur and hip bone)is 32 and anything 30 or less would be acceptable. The doctor explained the next procedure she would like to do (salter osteotomy). During this procedure they cut the lower portion of the hip bone out, cut the top portion of the hip bone out, then they pin the top portion of the bone into the spot where the lower bone was cut, and he is body casted for 6 weeks. He will also have to stay over night a couple of nights this time. At the end of the 6 weeks the pins are removed. She said the procedure is 95% successful and would hopefully be the last surgery he would need. In anticipation of this surgery I have been banking some of my Fridays off so that I can be done at work early, since I wasn't suppose to be done until June 17th. So as of right now his surgery is scheduled for June 3rd. We did get good news from his heart appointment on February 9th. The cardiologist said his hole had completely closed and that she did not need to see him any more!!!!
